Who Is Peter
Since moving from Kansas at age 11, Peter has been an active participant in various forms of music in the Triangle. Having started lessons in elementary school, Peter continued his musical progression on double bass through middle school orchestra (Phillips), high school jazz band and orchestra (East Chapel Hill), as well as All-State competitions. His drive in music was especially encouraged by the support of his mother Ann Daaleman, a lifelong music teacher and orchestra teacher at Phillips Middle School from 2004-2020.
After a year of athletics at Lafayette College, Peter made a shift back towards music and transferred into UNC-Chapel Hill. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 2013, having studied with Bob Anderson, Jason Foureman, and conducted by Tonu Kalam.
In 2013, Peter moved to Durham and began working/apprenticing at a violin shop in Durham for 2 years. After a brief hiatus with further apprenticing, Peter returned and was the sole luthier repairing a full rental fleet as well as customer instruments and bows. Taking many trips of furthering education at University of New Hampshire, Peter was able to continue his repair development studying with Lynn Hannings and Paul Weissmeyer. After 10 years of dedication to the craft of repair/restoration, Peter began independent work as Bow Regard LLC following a lay-off.
Peter is involved in the Durham music scene with a monthly residency at Arcana Lounge as well as co-hosting “Blends with Friends,” an open decks for DJ’s. In his free time he enjoys cooking, baking, fishing, playing music with friends, and spending time with his local family. He lives with his partner Grace and their two animals; our site mascot who is a Great Pyrenees named Calli Sue and a Maine Coon cat named D’angelo.
